MISSISSAUGA, ON (February 25, 2005) - Whirlpool Canada LP, announced today a voluntary recall of an estimated 22,000 under-the-counter plastic tall tub dishwashers sold in Canada between June 2004 and December 2004. An electrical defect within the dishwasher’s wash motor wiring poses a risk of the motor overheating and possibly catching fire. No incidents of property damage or personal injury have been reported in Canada. The recalled products are Whirlpool® brand and Kenmore® brand under-the-counter, plastic tall tub dishwashers. The dishwashers come with black, white, biscuit, or stainless steel front panels. They have the following model and serial numbers located inside the tub on a tag near the left side of the door opening:

If you own a Whirlpool® brand or Kenmore® brand under-the-counter plastic tall tub dishwasher and have had service on your wash motor between August 2004 and January 2005, please call Whirlpool Canada to determine if your unit is affected by this recall. “Whirlpool Canada places the highest priority on quality and consumer safety,” said Drew Fraser, General Manager, Whirlpool Canada. For this reason, we are asking consumers with recalled under-the-counter plastic tall tub dishwashers to disconnect the electric supply to the dishwasher by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it.
